Costal Great Southern (CGS), an affiliate of ConGlobal Industries, received the Annual Safety Award from the Georgia Ports Authority. The award recognizes vendors who show attention and dedication to safety awareness and safe work practices. This is the first year that the Georgia Ports Maritime Safety Council has honored Coastal Great Southern as its safest Maintenance and Repair Company.

“This award is a direct result of a team effort in the Savannah, GA facility,” said Mark Pulver, Regional General Manager of Coastal Great Southern. “It takes the contribution of every employee to create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.”

“CGS is committed to having safety as a top priority at all our locations,” states Mike Baldwin, President and CEO of ConGlobal Industries. “I am very proud of the CGS – Savannah team for receiving this award.”

L to R: Will Sims, Mark Pulver, and James Shearouse

The work of the Maritime Safety Council is a great example of how our industry partners, including the International Longshoremen, Stevedores, Over-the-Road Truckers, Maintenance Companies and many others, come together to identify and further encourage safety at the Georgia Ports.

The Council is a collaboration among the Georgia Ports Management Team, the Georgia Stevedores Association and other port stakeholders, to promote safety on the terminals. The Council meets monthly to review waterfront incidents and to discuss strategies to increase safety at the port.

ConGlobal Industries received the first batch of new Hyster empty container handlers into our depot equipment fleet. The Hyster handlers are a combination of 5-6 and 7-8 stack high handlers. Three handlers were received into our Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle depots. The new handlers complement ConGlobal’s current fleet of 35 top picks, 29 blade lifts, and three loaded lifts.

The Hyster empty container handlers are part of ConGlobal’s ongoing multi-million dollar program to reinvest in equipment for our core business of depot operations. The equipment purchase program allows ConGlobal to continually maintain and upgrade our container handling fleet. The purchase also keeps us in compliance with the new, more stringent engine emission requirements in California.

ConGlobal customers will benefit from less out-of-service downtime and greater service reliability from the new handlers. Additionally, ConGlobal employees will benefit from the new container handlers by having the latest safety features and state of the art engine, mast, and transmission components.

“It is crucial for ConGlobal to continue to reinvest in programs that allow us to service customers at the most optimal level,” said Dave Liebman, Chief Financial Officer of ConGlobal Industries. “Equally important, ConGlobal strives to provide our employees with a safe operating environment that includes having equipment with the latest safety features available in the market.”

ConGlobal Opens New Location in Wisconsin

ConGlobal Industries opens a new rail location in Wisconsin to serve its growing customer base in the Midwest. The new Wisconsin location is a satellite location managed by our Chicago, IL depot and is located at the CN Rail ramp. The location was established at the request of TRAC Intermodal and the CN Railroad and will be serving both TRAC Intermodal and the steamship line community for both containers and chassis equipment.

The Wisconsin location currently offers mobile service with two mobile repair trucks and plans to add additional trucks in the near future. Having mobile repair service at the railramp offers customers the opportunity to have equipment repaired on-site rather than paying drayage charges to move equipment to another facility. This also minimizes equipment downtime and increases in-service equipment. ConGlobal plans to also offer roadability services in the near future from the Wisconsin location.

“We are honored to be asked by our key customers to open a new location to service their equipment in Wisconsin,” said Mike Baldwin, President and CEO of ConGlobal Industries. “Our mobile service product, a key part of our service offerings, saves our customers both time and money. We hope this leads to more opportunities for ConGlobal to expand to other markets where it is mutually beneficial to the company and our customers.”

With the new location in Wisconsin and the recent acquisition of RCS, ConGlobal now operates 30 locations in the United States, Mexico, and Costa Rica. The Wisconsin location is located at the following.

In-Terminal Services Successfully Demonstrates Orange EV’s T-Series Pure Electric Terminal Truck In Intermodal Operations.

IMG_9368_smIn-Terminal Services and Orange EV announced the successful demonstration of Orange’s T-Series electric terminal truck at BNSF’s Edgerton, Kansas intermodal facility.

In-Terminal Services’ Senior Vice President of Intermodal Operations Ron Teague said, “Terminal trucks are critical to the services In-Terminal Services provides to our rail intermodal customers. Terminal trucks work long hours, often in harsh 24 x 7 industrial environments. We needed to see that Orange EV’s all-electric terminal truck could do the job and get through a shift on a single charge. They’ve convinced our team. Orange EV’s T-Series demonstrated it has the endurance and power we need.”

Orange EV’s T-Series consistently lifted and pulled the GCWR of 81,000 pounds at the site-designated 20 mph speed. Over the course of the two week demonstration, the truck lifted and pulled many oversized loads, completing over 400 total runs and showing its 160 kWh battery would go 10 hours or more on a single charge.

“Our drivers are excited” said Dustin Melton, In-Terminal Services Area Vice President overseeing the onsite demonstration. “We believe electric vehicles offer a range of economic, environmental, and operator benefits, and we’ve been working with Orange EV to ensure their truck meets our needs. Our drivers proved that moving to electric truck operations will be a short learning curve. They were enthusiastic about driving a cooler, quieter, low vibration, zero-emission vehicle.”

“We applaud the leadership of In-Terminal Services as they move to electric vehicles,” said Kurt Neutgens, President and Chief Technology Officer. “It’s one thing for us to claim the T-Series can perform. It’s entirely another when a customer proves it.” Terminal operators in warehouse/transportation, intermodal, manufacturing and parcel delivery now have a viable zero-emission alternative to existing diesel terminal trucks. Operators will also appreciate that the T-Series will significantly lower the cost of fuel, maintenance and other operating expenses, reducing the total cost of ownership and paying back well within the life of the truck.

About Orange EV
Orange EV designs and delivers pure electric, industrial-strength vehicles that are better for the earth, people, and bottom line with solutions that meet the harsh demands of industrial applications while making economic sense. Steve Rubin, CEO and President of ITS Technologies & Logistics LLC (ITSTL) is pleased to announce the following organization changes, effective January 11, 2016, that will enhance the operational and commercial focus of the company subsequent to its recent acquisition of Atlantic Container Service.

Marc Bumgarner, current head of Business Development, will assume corporate commercial responsibilities as Vice President Sales & Marketing. He will oversee the commercial strategy for all lines of businesses. Marc has over 25 years of experience in the transportation industry, with the last 3 years being spent in various senior leadership capacities at our company.

We have also created a Chief Operating Officer (COO) position, to bring a single-minded focus and pursuit of continuous improvement in safety and service delivery across the ITSTL lines of businesses. William (Bill) Hamlin has joined ITSTL as COO, with responsibility for all operating activities at our U.S. facilities. Bill has decades of steamship, intermodal, equipment, depot and labor management experience. He was most recently COO of Horizon Lines, the largest U.S. domestic ocean carrier until its sale to Matson Lines last year; President of the Americas division at APL, responsible for all steamship activities in the U.S.; head of APL’s marine terminal business Eagle Marine; and held various equipment management positions at SeaLand. Ron Teague (ITS), Rene Etcharren (CGI) and Tony Schrader (AAW) will continue their executive operating responsibilities and organization oversight while reporting to Bill.

These changes strengthen our company’s ability to deliver an outstanding product to our customers, while retaining brand identity in the market.

Please join me in congratulating Marc on his new role, and in welcoming Bill to the ITSTL family.
